Principal Investigator

Juhee Haam, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor
Department of Biological Sciences
Louisiana State University

Juhee joined the faculty at LSU in January 2021 to lead a research group in the Department of Biological Sciences. Her laboratory aims to understand neural circuit basis of the multi-stage memory formation processes. She is enthusiastic about using a combined approach of experimental and computational neuroscience to fully understand the distinct memory formation processes in the brain.
Postdoctoral Associate

Sasi B. Reddy B., Ph.D.

Sasi received his doctoral degree in Neurophysiology from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, where he worked on understanding the role of neurosteroids in synaptic plasticity and cognitive functions. In Haam Lab, Sasi is interested in understanding the role of HCN channels and glia in amyloid beta plaque formation. Outside the lab, Sasi is interested in playing cricket and badminton.

Graduate Students

Atharva Dingankar, M.S.

Atharva completed his BS-MS from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune in India. Atharva’s master’s thesis aimed at investigating the ability of mice to discriminate between same odors presented at different timings. Athrava’s research interests lie in integrating molecular, behavioral and computational approaches to investigate the circuits and coding mechanisms underlying learning and memory. In Haam Lab, Atharva will focus on memory formation at a deeper level in the brain. Outside academics, Atharva likes to spend time reading literature and philosophy, playing badminton and chess. Atharva is also interested in communicating science to masses outside academic environment.

Suman Gunin, M.S.

Suman received his master’s degree in Neuroscience from University of Calcutta and did predoctoral research at IIT, KGP, where he worked on understanding the relationship between deviant-detection in the orbitofrontal cortex and the prominence of subplate neurons. In Haam Lab, Suman is interested in understanding the neurobiological circuitry that influences memory consolidation as well as recollection. Outside the lab, Suman enjoys science outreach, cooking, swimming, and painting.
